Chelsea F.C
The Blues title charge is over and now they are in a battle to secure Champions League football next season by finishing in fourth place. In their last game in the EPL they had a goalless draw against Southampton which has put them in a vulnerable position. They are now only three points above Arsenal and since Solskjaer has taken over at Manchester United they have not dropped a point so they will fancy their chances of catching Chelsea before the campaign is over.
Newcastle United F.C
Newcastle is only two points from the relegation zone and if their form does not pick up it could spell disaster for them. They have only managed to achieve two points from their last four matches in the EPL and their last game saw them been beaten two-nil at home against a resurgent Manchester United side under new manager Solskjaer. The next game they play after facing Chelsea is against fellow strugglers Cardiff which is a pivotal match which could help decide who goes down. If they can get something against the Blues it will help boost confidence before going into the must-win game.
Prediction 2 – 1
Chelsea faces Spurs in the semi-final of the EFL Cup four days before they face Newcastle so fatigue could play a factor in the result. Due to the Blues playing at home I expect them to get off to a great start and manage to get two goals up by halftime. I think tiredness in the second half may play a part so I can see Newcastle pulling a goal back and pushing for a Chelsea for a point in the dying moments.
