Southampton is hovering above the drop zone on 24 points in 16th and only 2 points above 18th Cardiff City who they face at the weekend. This is a massive game between the 2 and the result will have a major impact on who goes down to the Championship next season. Things could be so different for the Saints as they have drawn their last 2 matches in the EPL against Burnley and Crystal Palace and if they had managed to get all 3 they would have breathing space right now. Instead, they are in for the battle of their lives and with Arsenal, Fulham and Manchester United in their next 3 Premier League games, they are desperate for all 3 against Cardiff.
Cardiff City F.C
Cardiff is 3rd from bottom of the Premier League and the match against Southampton gives them a chance to escape the drop zone. If they do beat the Saints they have a chance to jump up to 15th place depending on other results. They beat Bournemouth 2-0 in their last EPL game so will be confident they can get the 3 points they are in desperate need for. They are at home to Watford and Everton along with play away at Wolves in their next three matches in the league so will fancy their chances of escaping the drop.
Prediction – Draw
Southampton is experts at drawing games recently so I think that this one will be no different. With Premier League survival on the line, both teams will not want to make any mistakes which could lead to a cautious match being played out. That is why I think it will end in a goalless draw between them.
