It has not been a great season so far for Southampton fans as the club are only just above the drop zone on 22 points and just 3 points from 18th place Cardiff. If they are going to survive they are going to need to win their home games against the lower placed teams starting with Crystal Palace. They have been in fine form so far this year, however, and after beating Everton in their last match along with Leicester prior, the team will be full of confidence. After the Palace match they face Burnley away and are then at home against Cardiff so it is an excellent chance to drag themselves into the safety zone over the next few weeks.

It is a six-pointer between Southampton vs Crystal Palace as both teams are on 22 points and this game could go a long way in deciding which team survives. Palace has lost their last two matches in the EPL with their last defeat coming against Liverpool in a thrilling 4-3 loss. They are at home against both Fulham and West Ham after this match so they must get a couple of wins over the next three games to get out of the danger zone.

Prediction – Draw

With so much on the game, I can see both teams playing not to lose rather than going all out for the win. I think both teams will get a goal with Crystal Palace scoring the first but Southampton scoring in the second half to equal the terms and resulting in a draw. The single point will help both teams but if one can get all three it will help to improve their survival chances.
